- Name and email address — collected when you create an account.
- Payment information — your payment is processed by Stripe. We never store your card details on our servers.
- Study progress and quiz answers — used to personalize your study experience and identify your weak areas.
- Email address for free downloads — if you download the free COLREGS guide, we collect your email to deliver it.
- Exam date — optionally provided by you for the countdown feature. Never shared externally.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and continuously improve The Chartroom.
- To send your daily practice question (only if you opted in during signup — you can unsubscribe at any time).
- To personalize your study plan based on your weakest topic areas.
- To process your subscription payments via Stripe.
- To send important account-related communications (billing, security, policy updates).
3. Data Storage
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, with servers located in the United States. We apply industry-standard security measures to protect your information.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties — ever.

The Chartroom uses cookies only for essential functionality:
- Authentication cookies — to keep you logged in between sessions.
- Referral cookies — to credit a friend who referred you, if applicable (30-day expiry).
We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or any third-party analytics cookies.

We may send you the following types of emails:
- Question of the Day — daily practice question email. Opt-in only. Unsubscribe at any time via the link in each email or in your account settings.
- Account emails — billing receipts, password resets, and important service updates. These cannot be opted out of as they are required to operate your account.

You have the right to:
- Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data.
- Update your name, exam date, and email preferences at any time in your account settings.

The Chartroom is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify existing users of significant changes via email. The updated policy will always be available at chartroom.online/privacy with a revised “Last updated” date.
